Studio Method

My Creative Process

A step-by-step look at how I transform raw materials into finished paintings, focusing on traditional techniques and archival integrity.

01
Canvas Preparation
I begin by priming Belgian linen with traditional gesso, ensuring the perfect tooth for oil pigments and long-term archival stability.
Archival Linen Base
02
Layered Application
Using a slow, deliberate glazing technique, I build depth through multiple layers of oil, allowing each to cure before the next.
Traditional Glazing
03
Final Varnish
Once fully cured, I apply a final damar varnish to protect the surface and unify the tonal range of the finished composition.
